Jimmy Carter or James Earl Carter Jr. is the former President of the United States of America. He was the 39th President to have held that office in the history of the United States. He is also a Nobel Peace Laureate having won the award in the year 2002. Jimmy Carter had also been prior to having been elected President; the governor of Georgia and he had served in the Georgia Senate for two terms.

Jimmy Carter is regarded as a humanitarian and a staunch advocate of Human Rights a fact that was more or less reflected in the policies that his administration followed. He is however censured by his critics for being a soft President, partly on account of these values. He has also been very active and continues to perform and promote humanitarian work the world over.
