Anne Bogart is an American theatre maker, professor and author.
She is currently Artistic Director of the SITI Company based in New York City. She is Head (Professor) of the graduate directing programme at Columbia University in New York City and has written several books including The Viewpoints Book (with Tina Landau), A Director Prepares and Ant then, you Act, which has just recently been published.
An extremely practical director, her work and her company have gained international esteem and reputation for its bold theatrical work. The company is a true ensemble, the company trains together throughout the process of rehearsing and performing a show. The training consists of both Viewpoints work, gleaned from her work with Mary Overlie and Suzuki work, which comes from her work with the Japanese director Tadashi Suzuki. (whom she co-founded SITI with).
Her written work is immensely practicable but also theoretical in nature and should be read by all aspiring theatre makers and directors.
