On this day in 1999, teenage killers Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris planned to murder their school mates with home made bombs, but when they didn't go off, they entered the school Columbine High School, fully armed and murdered twelve students and a teacher in cold blood. One of the survivors is currently a student at Virginia Tech.

On this day in 1689, the siege of Londonderry began. King James II, a catholic king, lay siege to the protestant stronghold in Northern Ireland. Despite the siege, terrible fires and horrendous losses, the city never fell, her walls were never breached, which is why locals call her The Maiden City.

On this day in 1974, the Troubles in Northern Ireland hit its one thousandth victim, when a petrol station owner was murdered.

On this day in 2005, President Bush, signed a bill make it harder for debt ridden people to discharge their crippling debts.
