I Have Credit Card Debt, What Should I Do?

I had a credit card back in 97 and it was sent to collections in 99. And in 2006 a company that had bought the account started to collect from me in 2006. the troubling part is that it started off being a 2000$ limit. back in 97. Know this company want to change me 13,000$ got any info

    You should check your bills and calculate the amount that you owe the company. I think they have charged you interest on the amount that you owed them and accumulated it for the years since 1999. The best way to check this is see thee interest that you had to pay initially and multiply it by the outstanding bill amount. You'll get a monthly charge which you then multiply by 12 to get a yearly charge. Multiply this yearly charge by the number of years it has been outstanding for.

      Stop using them completely.  make your payments and select one balance at a time paying more of the principal in addition to the minimum amount due.  paying them off in a timely fashion beats losing all credit from poor credit payment history.
