What Exactly Is The War In Iraq Really About? What Purpose Is Being Served By Killing The Civilians?

Answer Question

The war was originally started because the US felt threatened by the growing strength of the Iraqi military machine under Saddam.  He was attempting (according to intelligence) to create weapons of mass destruction to use against his neighbours, remember he had already invaded his neighbour Kuwait.  The big worry was that he would use these weapons against Israel which would of course have caused a major conflict to break out in the middle east.  This would have caused oil supplies to the West to be disrupted causing major economic problems; a recession and possibly its big brother, depression.  Thousands of jobs would have been lost  and the world would have become a very dangerous place as countries competed for the oil.  Of course no one wants war but you have to face facts and realise that without oil at the moment the western economies would collapse which would lead to perhaps a world war.  I am afraid that it all comes down to money in the end.  It is what keeps society together and in the modern age in which we live there appears to be no alternative to the status quo without chaos, war and destruction on a global scale.
