What Is 460 X 9 Using Grid Multiplication?

Answer Question

It seems to be a way to try to get you to understand place value as it relates to multiplication. I don't much care for it, myself. See the picture.

If the (shorter) multiplicand has more than one digit, say 34 for example, you write it down the left column using different rows. 30 would have a row, and 4 would have a row. On the right side, you have a summation box for each row. In one worksheet I saw, the total was written under the bottom summation box.
