    Formula:
    Perimeter - width x 2

    workings:
    80 - (2 x 2)
    =76
    76/2
    =38
    to check your answer use this formula 2x(L+W)
    =2x(38+2)
    =80

    sparkles, you have not understood the question. My answer is very right. Read the question again, it says that Width Of A Rectangle Is 2 Inches Shorter Then The Length. It does not say that width is 2 inches... (which you have understood and calculated accordingly)

      Suppose,
      width = w
      and
      Length = L

      W = L -2

      Perimeter is the sum of all the sides. In a case of rectangle, it will be,
      2(L+W) = 80

      2(L+L -2) = 80

      2 (2L-2 ) = 80

      4L - 4 = 80
      4L = 84
      L = 21

      W = L -2
      W = 21-2
      W = 19

      no offense but its not right..the right answer is L=38 W=2.. try using the formula 2x(L+W)..and look for my workings below:)
