Can My Tax Id Number Be Used In Another State By Another?

I have a tax id. My friend want to use it. This is for temporary purposes until he gets started, with his business. Is this legal? Can some one use my id with my permission for such purposes?

No this is illegal, and even if it wasn't, why would you want to do this? I wouldn't trust anyone with such an important ID number that could cost you so much down the road if they ever took advantage of it. So either way, just don't do it.

No. A tax ID number is for the entity it was issued to only. By letting someone else use this number you are subjecting yourself to potential tax liability as well as many other legal and financial issues. The number is your until you die, the company is closed and the number retired or both. Do not let anyone use your tax ID number even if it is a State as opposed to a federal number. MAJOR PROBLEMS!
