What Is A Rebuy Poker Tournament?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A rebuy poker tournament is a tournament where players who are knocked out early are given the opportunity to rebuy more poker chips. This enables them to get back into the game. There is a set period of rebuys, which is usually an hour into the game or three blind levels. The tournament then turns into the traditional "freezeout" tournament, where players are eliminated from the tournament when they lose their chips.
Rebuy tournaments are available both online and offline. They are popular with players who do not want to wait until the next tournament begins before getting back into poker play.  The rebuy option also affects the prizes awarded. The prizes on multi table rebuy tournaments are often much bigger than any other tournament; the reason being that more people will rebuy to be in a chance with winning the money. Tournaments arrangers can afford the bigger payout as rebuys fun this.
