How Did The Native Americans Choose The Name For Each Different Tribe???
I need to find out how each tribe got its name. My friend thinks that it was through a dream. Is he right????????

If you notice, almost all the tribe names translate to the same thing: The People. How they got their names I do not know, but many things of that nature did indeed come from (or he said it did) the Shaman's dreams. You might want to write to a couple of tribes and ask. Oklahoma is a very good place to start for the headquarters of many of the Nations is right here. You can Google something like "Cheyenne Nation" "Arapaho Nation" "Absentee Apache Nation" "Citizen Pottawattomie Nation" "Choctaw Nation" "CHerokee Nation" :Chickasaw Nation." On the web sites there should be a place where you can contact a member of that particular nation.
