Having borrowed many traits from the Poodle breed, the Cockapoo breed of dogs has also taken the attribute of friendliness and flexibility from the Poodle breed, something that makes the breed excellent students, who are quite eager to learn. This factor goes a long way in facilitating the training process for the owner as well as the dogs (puppies also). Moreover their sharp sense of intelligence also provides considerable aegis to the trainer or owner throughout the course of the training process.
In addition to that, the dog is obedient. However this breed has a free and unruly spirit, which if not supervised and checked in a proper and pedantic manner could lead to aggression on part of the dogs. So the training process should be inculcated with the elements of both firmness and gentleness. As for taking care of a Cockapoo pet, its coat should be brushed and combed on a regular basis. In addition to that, clipping is also required on an annual basis.

Just adding on to the above great advice...
I have a Cockapoo that is now 4yrs old. Used to breed and show Great Danes...love them, but my Cockapoo is smarter than even my smartest Dane. The first thing to do is teach the pup to walk on a leash, sit and stay. Get a book on dog training if you haven't trained a dog. Or go to your local Petsmart, etc...they have classes and there your pup will meet other pups and become sociable with other dogs. Which is important
for a pup to learn so he doesn't become aggressive towards other dogs when he gets older. I take my Cockapoo everywhere, he pays no attention to other barking, untrained dogs since he was trained and socialized as a pup. He also knows I am the leader and he is the follower, this helps them feel secure. Like being with a strong person you feel protected. My guy still plays with his toys like a puppy, chases rabbits in my yard. Forgot one important word for the puppy to learn is no. You have to reward good behavior also. I used pieces of sweet baby carrots...he still loves these..I clip him about every 5 weeks in the summer...Get him used to grooming now...handle his feet and ears, etc. You will have a wonderful companion for years!
