The national flag of Ireland, which is also known as the Irish tricolour, is the national flag of the Republic Of Ireland. The flag was taken into place in 1919 by the Irish Republic during the War of Independence and as by the Irish Free State. After which it was given a constitutional status under the 1937 Constitution of Ireland, which further established the Republic. In English language it is referred to the Irish Tricolour and is correctly pronounced as try-colour, more emphasizing on the very first syllable which as opposed to trick lour for the French and Other flags.

The tricolour is regarded by many nationalists as the national flag of the whole of island of Ireland. According to the history, as we turn the time back, you shall notice Ireland was represented with a lot of other flags as well, which includes SAINT PATRICK'S CROSS and the flags of the four provinces. Looking at the colours of the flag you shall notice that they will the other way round as in the shorted flag of Côte d'Ivoire.
