The word cache is often used in the field of computer science. The term cache is pronounced kash. It is defined as a collection of data which duplicates the original values. These original values have either been stored in another file or have been computer earlier. The cache is used when the original data are either expensive to fetch (this is usually expressed in terms of the time which the user takes to access his or her data) or to compute. This is usually in relation to reading the cache.
Once the data have been stored in the cache, it can easily be accessed and used anytime in the future, merely by accessing the copy of the data which has been cached instead of refetching or recomputing the original data. Cached data reduces the time which is taken by the user to access the data.
The term register, on the other hand, is defined as a memory device which is a part of the memory of a computer. It has a specific address which is used by the users to hold specific kind of information.
