    Steve Allen was born on December 26, 1921 in New York, New York. He was a famous American television personality, writer, and a music composer.  He was the original host of the Tonight Show from 1953 until 1957.

    All throughout the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, he hosted and appeared in various television comedies.

    Steve Allen was the writer of "A Meeting of Minds", which was a fictional talk show that starring various famous figures from history. This show was very popular from 1977 until 1981.

    In addition to comedy and television, Steve Allen also enjoyed writing and composing music. It is believed that he may have composed more than 7900 songs. His best-known song is probably This Could Be The Start of Something Big, and his Gravy Waltz won a 1963 Grammy as best jazz composition.

    He also enjoyed writing. He wrote over fifty books.
