What Is The Latin Root Of 'Wise'?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The word 'wise' doesn't come from Latin; it's from the Old English 'wis', which in turn is derived from Proto Indo-European 'weid-' meaning ''to see". Other modern English words from this PIE root include 'guide', 'advice', 'evident', and 'vision'.
