What Is The National Airline Of Israel?

El Al is the officially recognised international airline. It was established in November 1948, shortly after the State of Israel had been created. It started to fly from Tel Aviv to Rome and Paris, then London was included.
It is now privatised, but is still recognised as 'Israel's airline'.
It is famous for being the most secure airline in the world. Each El Al flight has up to 6 undercover agents aboard the aeroplane. All cabin crew are trained in hand to hand combat and all the pilots are ex-fighter pilots. There are also design features on board El Al planes which make it impossible for passengers to reach the captain.
El Al planes are also fitted with anti-missile counter measures, so the planes can retaliate if attacked by a missile.
Check in for El Al flights is also rigorous. The whole process takes three hours and passengers are classified according to the security risk they are thought to pose.
