Does Anyone Out There Have A Cat That Chews On Everything?

I don't know what her problem is, but she acts like a dog, not a cat! I caught her chewing on my books, newspaper, the buckle on my sandle, my sock, etc.

It could be dental, and it could be that she is bored, get her some feather toys to play with, they love them, and love to chase them.

I do.  My cat loves any sort of string...shoestrings, those strings on your blinds, purse handles, belts.  She always bites them.  I just have to keep everything up and out of her reach.

She has 3 dogs and a brother cat to play with. I guess as Freud would say, she's just orally fixated!

My cat chews the straw on the broom.. But that‘s about it.  Try some toys.. Or ask the vet to check the teeth.

I have a friend with two cats. One is like a toddler in a fur coat and has to either taste everything or chew on everything-plastic bags, electric cords, newspaper, shoes, clothing and every toy thats been offered. His teeth have been checked, a vet has looked at him, his diet has been changed to ensure that he gets all of the vitamins and minerals that a cat requires- but he still chews. He is a very large cat and there is another cat in the house, but, when my friend brought home a medium sized children toy hedge hog with a honking- sound, squeaker in it, the chewing stopped. This cat has his very own toy that matches his size. He sleeps with it, plays with it, beats it up when he's mad, and carries it around everywhere. He has a new best friend (non-cat, non-human) and he is quite happy...just like a toddler. I hope this helps a little. When you've had her all checked out and done everything you can do, there still might be a need you haven't met, keep trying.

This is too funny! I had her checked at the vet and she is fine. The vet's assistant said she has a cat that chews on everything too. I had once thought about getting a dog toy for her. I got her from an animal rescue group, so she was with other cats and she did have a friend. Where did your friend get that toy from?
