Was Ruffian A Great Race Horse?

In some people's minds, Ruffian may be the greatest horse that ever lived.  Though Ruffian only earned $313,000 in her short racing career, she ranks 35th in the Top 100 of all race horses ever.  A phenomenal feat by a horse who only had 11 races and barely made it half-way through her 3-year-old racing career.  There has been a television film produced on Ruffian, but the truth of the matter is, to appreciate this amazing horse, you had to have seen her race.  Ruffian led every step of the way in every race she ran and was probably on her way to becoming one of the greatest horses ever.  Ruffian won a lot of her races by big margins.  In fact, her first lifetime race, she won by 15 lengths.  If you are a fan of horse racing, especially great champions like Ruffian, you would probably enjoy this website, www.horseracegame.com  They present a great 3D action racing game where you can jockey, fictitiously bet and train some of the best horses that ever raced.  If you go to the site, check out Secretariat, Seabiscuit and Man O' War, as well.  In fact, you might even want to build a race  putting them all against each other.  You never know who will win.  There's also a great book, if you're just interested in Ruffian called Keeps on Running, the story of the filly that never wanted to lose.  There are some great photos of the champ and brings back some fond memories.  I will miss her.
