Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Axe man of New Orleans was a serial killer who used to kill people with an axe in New Orleans, Louisiana from the year 1918 till October 1919. All of his victims were attacked and brutally murdered with an axe and in some cases the front doors of the people he attacked were also broken down by the same weapon. The Axe man was never apprehended or even verified and till to day no one knows his identity. Not all of his victims died and there were a few who survived as well. His killings stopped mysteriously as they had started in the first place.

People who fell pray to his brutal killings were Joseph Maggio (an Italian grocer), his wife Catherine Maggio, Louis Besumer (also a grocer), Charles Cortimiglia (an immigrant), Mary Cortimiglia (baby daughter of Charles), Sarah Laumann (a 19 year old girl) and Mike Pepitone. The Axe man seemed to have been influenced by Jack the Ripper (a serial killer in London, England who used to kill prostitutes) and used to write taunting letters to the news papers regarding the crimes he had committed and the crimes he was planning to commit. He used to mention him self as the Daemon from Hell in his letters. There have been many different versions and speculations about the Axe man but no definite piece of proof has been found regarding his where about till today.
