    Roberto Clemente was a famous, Hispanic baseball player. He was born on August 18, 1934. He started his professional baseball career with the Pittsburg Pirates. He played baseball for the Pittsburg Pirates from 1955 until 1972. He had a lifetime batting average of .317 and had approximately 240 homerun hits.  He played outfield and was considered to be one of the greatest outfielders of all time.

    He earned the honor as the leagues most valuable player in 1966. He won a total of four national batting honors in 1961, 1964, 1965 and in 1966.  He was also selected to play on the All-Star baseball team more than twelve times. During his baseball career, he also won more than twelve Golden Glove Awards. He was an excellent, all-around baseball player.

    Roberto Clemente died on a plane crash from Nicaragua. He was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 1973.
