    It is true that he was also an inventor. In 1752, Benjamin Franklin made one of the earliest demonstrations of electricity. By flying a specially rigged kite during a thunderstorm. Franklin was able to attract an electric charge from the atmosphere. He used this experiment to invent the lightning rod, which has since saved many homes.

      He was definitely a celebrity. I'm pretty sure he invented more things than anyone else in the world. This includes those flipper thinks scubadivers wear on their feet.
