The pulmonary arteries are blood vessels which supply blood from the heart to the lungs. They are the lone arteries which transmit deoxygenated blood.
In the human heart, the pulmonary trunk starts at the bottom of the right ventricle. It is usually small and broad just about 5 cm in span and just about 3 cm in width. It later spread into two pulmonary arteries, which transport deoxygenated blood to the corresponding lung. Pulmonary hypertension takes place on their own as a result of lung diseases.
It can be the outcome of a heart disease but equally a cause. It also takes place as a result of pulmonary embolism and scleroderma. It is typified by abridged exercise tolerance. Harsh forms usually have a depressing prognosis.
