When Is Eating Meat Forbidden To Some People?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

People have different faiths and different religions, which prescribe certain guidelines to lead their lives.  Many religions, under the light of some circumstances and logical reasoning forbid the eating of meat.  For instance, Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Hinduism are to name a few of those religions, who have promulgated certain constraints on their followers regarding the eating of meat.

In Islam, pork is forbidden as prescribed in the Holy Quran, which is the ultimate guideline for all Muslims as they consider pigs unclean.

On the contrary, in Hinduism, beef is prohibited in certain castes for altogether different reasons.  While Muslims don't eat pork because they consider the pig unclean, Hindus aren't allowed to eat beef because they consider the cow as a sacred animal.

Even the ancient Celts who worshipped Epona, the Horse Goddess were forbidden from eating horse flesh.

Also Jews under the rules of kosher food, are not empowered to eat the flesh of pigs and other animals prohibited in the biblical books of Leviticus and Deuteronomy.
