I'm A Grandparent, My Grandson Has Been Diagnosed With Adhd Since He Was 6 Yrs Old. He Is On Medication And Everytime He Has A Behavior Problem His Medication Dosage Is Increased. He Bites His Tongue And Lips To The Extreme That He Makes It Bleed. They Call This A Tick. Can The Medication He Is Taking Making Him Do This? I'm Very Concern About Him. He Is Going To Be 10 In July But He Is Very Thin, Eats Poorly And Doesn't Get Much Sleep. Please Advise.

The ADHD is psychological problem in children and some
adults. The drugs used to treat ADHD can cause tick problems in the child as
side effect. I advise you to visit doctor and ask about the management of this problem.

It's not a psychological problem...it's real...it's a chemical imbalance issue.  sounds like he needs a change of medication.  one of my daughters and myself have been diagnosed with the same thing...adhd...attention-deficit-hyperactive-disorder...some of the cause of this problem was an allergy to some dairy products, eggs, sugar  (which surprised me, i didn't think you could be allergic to sugar),  high-fructose corn syrup (if you read lables, is even in some cereals),  and mono-sodium-glutamate (msg) which is also in a lot of food, oriental foods for example and a lot of other foods as a flavor enhancer. You have to read lables.  after removing these things from our diet the adhd slowed down to crawl. If i eat any of these items, i still get where i grind my teeth, get easily angered and/or very restless.  have your son/daughter take your grandson to a different doctor that specializes in problems related to adhd and would be willing to check your grandson for food allergies...some of the new drugs do more harm than good. Find out what the side effects are for the meds. He is taking and ask a lot of questions ! ! !
