Is This American Morality And Justification Or Hypocrisy?

I Have Noticed On A Number Of Debates That 9/11 Is Quoted As A Morally And Justifiable Reason For Invading Iraq, When It Is Well Documented That It Was Osama Bin Laden And His Organisation Who Were Responsible (who Were Not Supported By Sadam Hussain). Is It Not Hypocritical Of America And Her People, Who Both Supported The IRA With Money And Political Backing Of Terrorist Actions Resulting In The Death Of Many British Citizens To Take This Stance? Would Britain Have Been Justified In Attacking America For Revenge For Their Support As America Seem To Have With Iraq?

Well, I totally agree with you on the wrongness of the invasion, and especially your point about American support for the  IRA. As far as hypocrisy goes, yes there is surely enough evidence now to show that there were those in both the Bush and Blair administrations who seized on fear of terrorism as an excuse, and even suppressed evidence that there was, as you rightly say, no link. The only point I wonder about is whether the general public who supported the war are guilty of hypocrisy - I would say ignorance is more likely. Did you know that, at any rate a year after 9/11, 50% of polled Americans still believed there were Iraqis involved in the attack? The lack of knowledge among the public at large is truly incredible. So what do you think about it all?
