The Theft Act 1968 is a U.K act of parliament that governs most of the general property offences in English law. The act created a number of dishonesty-related and simplified or consolidated offences including theft itself, robbery, burglary, joy-riding, false accounting, blackmail, handling stolen goods, electricity theft and a range of offences relating to obtaining money, property or services by deception.

The Theft Act resulted from the efforts of Criminal Law Revision Committee to reform the English law of theft and was designed to replace the existing law of larceny and other deception-related offences with a single enactment. By doing this, the Committee intended to create a more coherent body of principles that would allow the law to evolve in line with new situations. The Act received the Royal Assent on 26 July 1968.
