Listed below are a number of birth control methods you can use:

    1. Do not having sexual intercourse.

    2. Do not have sex on the days that you may be fertile.

    3. Use the male Condom

    4. Use different types of pills called oral contraceptives

    5. There is also a thing called the mini-pill

    6. You can also use a Copper T IUD (Intrauterine Device) Its placed inside the uterus and the arms of the Copper T IUD contain some copper, which stops fertilization by preventing sperm from making their way up through the uterus into the fallopian tubes

    7. Another method is using the Progesterones IUD (Intrauterine Device) –This is placed inside the uterus by a doctor. It contains the hormone progesterone. The progesterone causes the cervical mucus to thicken so sperm cannot reach the egg, and it changes the lining of the uterus so that a fertilized egg cannot successfully implant. The Progesterones IUD can stay in your uterus for one year. This IUD is 98% effective.

    8. The Intrauterine System or IUS (Mirena) – The IUS is a small T-shaped device like the IUD and is placed inside the uterus by a doctor. The IUS stays in your uterus for up to five years. It does not protect against STDs or HIV. The IUS is 99% effective.

    9. Another good method for women is using the Female Condom which is worn by the woman, this barrier method keeps sperm from getting into her body. It can be inserted up to 24 hours prior to sexual intercourse. Female condoms are 79 to 95% effective at preventing pregnancy. There is only one kind of female condom, called Reality.

    10. Also the Depo-Provera can be used in which the women get injections, or shots, of the hormone progestin in the arm every 3 months. It does not protect against STDs or HIV

    11. You can also use the diaphragm, Cervical Cap or Shield. These are barrier methods of birth control, where the sperm are blocked from entering the cervix and reaching the egg.

    12. Then there is a thing called the Contraceptive Sponge

    13. The Patch (Ortho Evra) can be also be used which is a skin patch worn on the lower abdomen or upper body. You put on a new patch once a week for three weeks, and then do not wear a patch during the fourth week in order to have a menstrual period.

    14. The Hormonal Vaginal Contraceptive Ring (NuvaRing)

    15. There is Surgical Sterilization or a Vasectomy and nonsurgical Sterilization (Essure Permanent Birth Control System)

    16. And if other things are not available then there is something called Emergency Contraception.  Emergency contraception, or emergency birth control, is used to keep a woman from getting pregnant when she has had unprotected vaginal intercourse.
