Microsoft word was a rip off of the Lotus Co. Software. Lotus Word and Lotus 123 (Microsoft Excel). I know that is what I use to use before Bill Gates decided to infultrate the software market.

Miscrosoft Word has always been called Word (although sometimes referred to as 'Word for Windows' in the DOS era). When it was introduced, the market leader was WordPerfect, but the MS steamroller gradually took over the world.
