What Is Algebra?

    Algebra is a mathematical term that involves the study of structure, relation and quantity. This name was taken from a thesis named The Compendious Book on Calculation by Completion and Balancing written by a Persian mathematician named Muhammad ibn Mūsā al-Hwārizmī. Algebra is considered as one of the main subjects of mathematics. Some of the categories of algebra are Elementary Algebra, Abstract Algebra, Linear Algebra and Universal Algebra.

    Elementary algebra is included in the secondary syllabus. This section provides the basics of algebra. Algebra is all about adding and multiplying numbers, variables, polynomials, factorisation and roots.

    Abstract Algebra is also known as the Modern Algebra which consists of groups, rings and fields. Linear algebra consist of properties of vector spaces and the Universal algebra is the name suggest consist of all the properties of algebra.
