What Are The Rules For Cricket?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are various rules that govern this sport and there is an international governing body also that amends the rules which it finds required to be amended.

The first and foremost thing that should be kept in mind is the length of pitch, a strip from one end of which the bowlers bowl and at another end the batsman tries to defend the wicket and play a stroke. The length of the strip should be twenty-two yards and the ground in which the game should be played is supposed to be an oval one.

The batsman after hitting the ball, if finds that it is possible for him to reach at the other end of the pitch, runs towards it and after completion of it he gets one run. The batsman can also hit boundaries; when the ball hit by him reach at the end of the oval ground he gets four runs. But if the ball hits the boundary rope without coming in contact with the ground he gets six runs.

Each team plays a certain number of balls and scores some runs and the next team then chases it. The team which scores more runs wins the game.

Sometimes the each team plays twice and the collective scores are being compared to decide the winner.
