I've searched at www.kodak.com for your specific problem to no avail.  However, try to follow this..
    1. With camera OFF, insert SD Card
    2. Turn Camera on.
    3. In any mode, press the MENU button.
    4. Press the up/down arrows to highlight SETUP, then press the OK button.
    5. Press the Up/Down arrows to highlight the setting you want to change (In this case FORMAT). Then press the OK button.
    6. Choose an option with Up/Down arrows: Format YES or NO, then press OK button.  (NOTE: When you format the card - if you have ANY information on the card, i.e. Pictures, etc. They WILL BE DELETED.)
7.When formating is completed press the Menu button to exit.
    8. Start taking your pictures.

    GOOD LUCK!!

There is no need. The only time the word programming and card would be used together is if they want you to UPDate the Firmware of the camera. I had two Kodaks and did this, it involved getting a specific file off the net and copying it to the card. The just (but there will be instructions) put the card in and turn it on and do EXACTLY how instructed. If you turn camera off in the middle, bye bye camera. Any name brand SD card or what ever you use should work right out of the package. I DO NOT RECOMMEND SANDISK, their return policy is very strict and cost me $50 for a cheap card, PLUS they are the most commonly CLONED cards out there by China and maybe Russia and the CLONED cards can look better than the real cards.

Any more questions? Now if a card doesn't work, take it back. Most all cards come formatted and blank out of box. Software to just format a card is rare so use the camera, but if you delete a picture there is plenty of software avail to undelete pics. Some free and all VERY SLOW.
