Who Are Investment Bankers? What Do They Do?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Investment bankers, are people whose job it is to take the money, and other assets in a portfolio and increase their value.
They may work for a variety of clients, who rely on them to grow their money and report back with results, or they may work for an institution which gives them the mandate to grow the collective funds, in the financial institutions portfolios.
They do this primarily, by buying shares in companies, sectors and diverse countries, and then selling them for a profit when the share price has increased.
They may do the same with bonds, fixed interest investments,
    and other investment instruments.
They are trained in this, from working in this environment, to spot an opportunity to increase the value of the funds that they have available to trade with.
They may work for a global bank, or an investment institution,
and therefore be called an investment banker. They geneally
earn based on their performance, and are wealthy.
