Cutting down trees has a devastating effect on soil. Trees act as strong foundations for the soil. And soil remains in place because of trees as they are not exposed to the harsh weather conditions. When trees are cut, the soil becomes exposed to everything that is going on around. When it rains, the water takes the upper layer of soil with it. And causes soil erosion. Also the minerals and nutrients in the soil are taken away by it and the land becomes infertile.
