Watford Football Club, based in Hertfordshire was founded in 1881.

They originally played at Cassio Road, but moved to Vicarage Road in 1922 where is still their home ground today.

Watford FC are nicknamed 'the Hornets' because of the yellow and black coloured kit which the team wears. They are also known as 'the Goldenboys' .

Watford's biggest rivals are Luton Town. The two teams met regularly for the first four decades of the twentieth century, and then again in the sixties and the seventies, when this rivalry became more fierce.

Watford's most famous fan is Elton John, who actually purchased the club when it was in the fourth division. After appointing Graham Taylor as the sides manager, Watford reached the First Division and finished in second place behind Liverpool in the season of 1982/83.

Watford currently play in the Premiership, having been promoted by a play-off win in the Championship in the 2005/06 season, but unfortunately they look set for relegation once more.
