What Is The Highest Mountain In N.Ireland?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The highest mountain in Northern Ireland is Slieve Donard, known in Irish as Sliabh Dónairt or Sliabh Domangard.

This mountain is located on the eastern side of the Mourne Mountains in Down about 2 miles away from the sea. The mountain  is 852m (2795 ft) high.

It is named after Saint Domangart (also known as Saint Donard) who died in 570 AD. Althought Slieve Donard is the highest peak in Northern Ireland, the highest peak in the whole of Ireland is Carrauntoohil in County Kerry.
