The Six Million Dollar Man was an American television series based on the book 'Cyborg' by Martin Caidin. The novel was published in 1972 and became a best-seller.
In1973, it was made into a movie and 'The Six Million Dollar Man' aired from 1973 to 1978. The adaptation from book to film was done by Howard Rodman under the pseudonym Henri Simoun.
The novel and its sequels deal with the enhancement of former astronaut victim Steve Austin. When Austin loses his right arm, the left eye and both legs they are replaced with bionic counterparts that give him "super-human" powers and he sets out to work as asecret agent.
However, the film abandoned a lot of the novel plotline and opted for a more TV-friendly script.
