This team has been very successful with two national championships, several talented players and five national titles.
The Rameses is a ram and has been the mascot for the football team of North Carolina since last 70 years. Actually the idea of choosing the ram as a mascot came from a sobriquet that was given to North Carolina's star fullback named Jack Merritt. He was nicknamed as the "battering ram" referring to the way he plunged his lines. Then the University decided to use this as their symbol and thus Rameses came into existence and since then proudly represents North Carolina Tar Heels.
