How Many League Games Did Paul Merosn Play For Arsenal?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Born in London in nineteen sixty eight Paul Charles Merson played three hundred and twenty seven league games for Arsenal scoring seventy eight league goals in the process.

Merson signed for Arsenal in nineteen eighty five after joining the Gunners the year previous as an apprentice.  His debut came a further year later in eighty six against Manchester City.

By the end of the eighties he had established himself as regular under George Graham on the right hand side of midfield and won two titles under Graham.

In nineteen ninety four Merosn admitted to being hooked on cocaine and alcohol and was suspended from football for three months whilst he went into a football association arranged drink and drug rehabilitation programme.  He returned to the Arsenal side in nineteen ninety five, just before the sacking of manager George Graham, the man who had been responsible for bringing Paul through the ranks at the Gunners.
