I have heard that statement people throw out in passing (or in jest). I think one can understand the connection: The sauce is mainly made in Japan and China where the people all have black hair; and that soy sauce is black. So it is an easy association. Still, anything can happen. So I did a quick search on the Internet (what a marvelous tool for all of us!) and all I could find were some reports on reported investigations, and nothing that sounded authentic or official. There are plenty of bloggers adding their funny lines, but I hesitate joining in their banter unless I have the facts. (I hate to be responsible for spreading falsehood.) Perhaps I have missed them. If anyone finds anything substantial, please let everyone know.

Soya (soy) beans, of course. You must have something else in mind, otherwise you would not have asked this question. Is that right? What is the REAL question?
