If A Toddler Learns A Cuss Word What Do You Do?

You cannot always stop toddlers from using foul language, they hear it all the time in nursery, play school, on the street or even from the other children in the neighbourhood. However you can't tell everyone in the street not to use foul language around your child, it may cause even more of the same problem.
The only thing you can do, is try to explain to the child that it is not acceptable and tell them if they hear foul language not to repeat the words. I have often had similar problems with my daughter, it is always an on going battle to refrain her from using this foul language.

If your toddler is cussing its because he/ she may have heard the words from someone of influence or from a movie or tv explain to your toddler that its not ok to use these words and try to censor what your toddler sees on tv or the movies if it is someone who is a potty mouth, ask them to please refrain from cussing around your toddler.

Put the child in time out every time the child uses these words or take away his/her favorite toy or game.Tell the child this will not be allowed, these are very bad words.  It is not nice to use these words, and insist that you, your family and friends are not allowed to use these words in front of your child.  In order for your child to use these words they have to hear and learn the words from someone.  Take care.
