Is It Alright For A Christian To Date A Non-Christian?

I've heard of so many controversial issues revolving around this topic and would like as many answers I can get to help resolve this issue for my friend.

It says in the Bible in 2 Corinthians 6:14,"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: For what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?    I personally think that if a christian and a non christian date the christian could possibly get the non christian to be a believer.    I have dated several non christians and non believers and it didn't work out. They don't want to go to church with you or have anything to do with Bible studies or learning about Christ.

The Bible tells us NOT to be unequally yoked- meaning don't marry a non believer if you are a believer.  Now i know you are just dating, but I always believed you should treat each person you date as a prospective spouse.  You never know which of your dates will turn out to be the 'one'

I suppose that the answer to this question is it depends on who you ask and what their particular denomination is.  Personally, I see nothing wrong with a Christian dating a non-Christian.

I think things like this were considered "sins" by many "Christians" just as it was considered a "sin" for a white and a black to date/marry or a Catholic and non-Catholic.

So, to find out for sure if its a sin is to see if it specifically (as in, comes right out and says it) in the Bible.  If someone says a particular line means that--if it's something that's open to interpretation, then no, it's probably not a sin.

Technically speaking, there is no law against it. It is however, favorable to marry someone who is of the same faith. Differences in 'values' can be a breeding ground for trouble in a marriage.

Dating is just understanding person whom you spend time with... It is just developing friendship... It doesn't need any specification like religion... I suppose .. If i am right...

Dating is the period of Get to know each other. Even if things don't progress over time, you've had the opportunity to share your beliefs with each other. Gaining knowledge & understanding of other peoples religions can only make you wiser & strengthen your own values.

As long as you are not attempting to convert the heathen, then dating's all right.

Usually, my church would say yes to this and its like try to change that person. I mean if they wont to date its totally up to them. They should be able to like date and love each other... And that's all you can wish for.
