Which Antibiotic Can Cure Anthrax, If Detected At An Early Stage?

Answer Question

At an early stage, the most preferred way to treat anthrax is by using antibiotics. Antibiotics aim at destroying the infection and prevent further complication and even death. B anthracis is curable right at the onset of the infection by administering to the patient the following antibiotics: Doxycycline or Vibramycin, Penicillin, Amoxicillin (that includes Amoxil, Biomox and Trimox), Ampicillin (that includes Marcillin, Omnipen, Polycillin, Principen and Totacillin), Ciprofloxacin (Cipro), Levofloxacin (Levaquin), Gatifloxacin (Tequin) and Chloramphenicol (Chloromycetin).

If the infection persists and enters the second stage, during which the patient becomes severely ill, he can be administered the medications through the intra-venous (or IV) method. This treatment takes longer than the treatment by antibiotic medication. Treatment under the intra-venous (IV) method may last for a few weeks. Patients who are exposed to the anthrax infection are given preventive antibiotic medication. This is a dosage that usually runs its course for about 60 days.
