What is drawing

Drawing is one form of graphical representation of physical things which is the opposite of verbal, meaning the use of words. (BTW, many people confuse verbal with oral, the latter means to speak.)

To distinguish a drawing from a painting, just think of the word "draw" which means to pull. To pull something, you need a line--so drawing consists of lines, whereas a painting consists of areas and gradations. In computer talk, it is something like a vector vs. Raster.

Drawing is a way to show a particular picture. Basically it is taking a picture but instead of using a camera and lens you use a pencil and paper
