Clint Eastwood is an American motion-picture actor and director who also remained mayor of Carmel, California, from 1986 to 1988. He first gained recognition as an actor when he starred in the television series "Rawhide" (1959-1966). His role as an unscrupulous hired killer in A Fistful of Dollars made him an international superstar.
He played memorable roles in the movies For a Few Dollars More (1965) and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966). He also played main roles in the movie musical Paint Your Wagon (1969) and in Play Misty for Me (1971).

Eastwood's role as law-bitten, law-bending police officer Harry Callahan in Dirty Harry (1971) took him to new heights of fame. He also played leading roles in Magnum Force (1973), The Enforcer (1976), Sudden Impact (1983), and The Dead Pool (1988).
