Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The 17th amendment was basically a change enacted in the US constitution that was passed by the senate in the year 1911 and by the House of Representatives in 1912. Its purpose was to replace the article I. The purpose of this amendment was about the election of the senators who were previously selected by legislature. The 17th amendment said that this election will be done through a popular vote by the people of that state. Until an election can be held, the state’s governor can select the senator for the vacant post for the time being.
