With the onset of the seasonal change, smart drivers prepare and lookout for unseen weaknesses to avoid being stranded on the road.As the weather heats up take the following summer maintenance precautions to assure a trouble free ride.

1 cooling system: in summer the cooling system works more intensely to prevent overheating, make sure coolant and water levels are equally maintained. Maintain a ratio of 50:50 .
2 tyre pressure: tyre pressure rises one to two pounds per square (PSI) inch for every 10 degree increase in the outside temperature. Proper tyre inflation and air pressure is essential to avoid a tyre burst. As the summer heat causes tyre pressure to rise, check it early morning when the tyres are cold.

3 battery: the last thing you want on a hot summer day is battery failure. Test it regularly with a voltage regulator. Also keep the battery terminals clean and secure the cables properly. Change the battery every three years.
4 air filter: during the hot summer months, contaminants, including pollen, dust, mould and smog easily enter the passenger's compartment through the air conditioning. Check the air filter and replace it as it can become clogged with these irritants.
