The River Marden runs through Calne. Calne is a town situated in central Whitshire towards the South West region of UK. It is a small but growing town and has a population of around 13,606 according to Census conducted in 2001.
Calne is thought to be the fastest growing towns in the South West Engalnd region. Its population is predicted to peak around 16,000 by 2008.
The Lansdowne Park housing development has put in a lot of efforts and developed the physical scale of the town to a large extent. They have created an entire new northwestern suburb which includes schools, hospitals, small shopping malls etc. This area has gathered a lot of interest from professional workers from more expensive areas like Bristol, Bath and Marlborough.
