What Is The Salinity Of Saltwater?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Seawater is about 3.1% to 3.8% salts.  It is NOT at saturation, as there are a few lakes with even more salinity, such as the Salton Sea.  Seawater's salinity varies around the world, and can become even more diluted in an estuary or a river outflow.  It was rather surprising when mixing salt for saltwater aquariums, just how much salt is required.
