Herb butter can give a touch of elegance to any meal cooked at home. These can be used on breads, sandwiches, steamed veggies, various types of meat and fish, and even eggs. Herbs are quite abundant of certain times of the year so making herb butter at those times is an excellent idea as we get to enjoy them at a later date and during winters when fresh herbs become scarce. The fresh taste of herbs can elevate your mood at meal times.
They are also quite easy to make. You can use a wide variety of hers for making these. One can use Marjoram, dill, mint, Thyme, and almost all others.
When making the butter, use unsalted sweet cream butter or Margarine if you wish to stay away from butter. If you are going to use dried herbs, use double the amount than when using fresh ones. For every cube or quarter pound of butter 1 tablespoon of finely chopped, fresh herbs and about 1 teaspoon of crushed dried herbs should be used together with 1/2 teaspoon of ground seeds. First let the butter become soft at room temperature then cream the butter and then blend in the herbs and seasonings. Lemon juice should also be added. You can then roll the herb butter into logs or various shapes per your choice and store them in the freezer if you intend to use them for long. They can be frozen till six months.
