Solve 5x+4y=12.(b)When graphed this equation would be a line.By examining your answer to part a, what is the slope and y- intercept of this line?Slope= , y-intercept=.(C) using your answer from part a,find the corresponding value of y when x=16. #2 Calculate the value of the discriminant of x^2+4X+4=0.Exam the sign of the discriminant in part a, how many x-intercepts would the graph of y=x^2+4x+4 have ? Why?

    You can graph the given equation by assuming a range of values for x (say from -3 to +3). Substitute each value in  the given equation to calculate the corresponding value for y.

    The given equation is in the form y = mx + c. Therefore, the
    slope = -5/4 and y-intercept = 3.

    To calculate the value of y when x = 16
    5(16) + 4y = 12
    4y = 12-80
    4y = -68
    y = -17

    Discriminant = b^2 - 4ac
                        = 16 - 4(1)(4)
                        =0
    The y=x^2+4x+4  would have 2 x-intercepts
